I MET HIRO NAKAMURA'S COUSIN
--------------------------------------
- “I met Hiro Nakamura’s cousin. Yes I did.”
It was the same sentence again. The small vagrant was tired of listening his tall friend repeating the same things one and more times. They lived under the bridge of street 34, city 45 of system D. 50 years ago, that bridge was known as London Bridge, and of course, the city was London, but not now. Since they came, nothing in the world was the same.
There were really few people who could remember cities like London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, etc. People didn’t remember even the Earth as it was known at the beginning of 21 century, because 50 years ago they came. The first week governments named them the invaders, and from the first moment we knew they were hostiles, or at last we supposed it and we attacked them. But it was not a problem for them. Of course, all our armies had the same target, but it was not enough. Different armies were not able to work together. When things go well, everybody is happy, but when the enemy is destroying every plane, and killing every warrior, the generals begin to argue, and they revive old problems between their countries. It is difficult that countries like USA, Russia, England, France, Germany, Japan, Iran, Israel, etc. work together in peace. Sometimes there were “accidents” that killed some USA soldiers; other times, another “accidents” killed Russian ones. It was difficult to win a war in that way, and we didn’t do.
The two vagrants were under their bridge in a really strange world. The invaders had killed every politician, every army, every king, every emperor, etc. In fact, they had almost killed everybody, and they had taken lots of young people to work as slaves in other worlds. The Earth (called system D) was almost empty. Scientists from the invaders civilization detected that our planet had a bad illness that was killing it. Maybe the entire invasion was motivated by this. They determined that the problem was the humans, so they had to kill 70% of the specie, but they left 30% because they were civilized. In the end, they didn’t want to do genocide; they only had to resolve a human plague. And it is true that the Earth was really a better place to live. There were no wars, no crimes, no contamination, and there were no problems. Well, maybe there was only one, and it was that there were no humans to enjoy it.
Invaders hadn’t killed the two vagrants because they were going to die in maybe one or two years. It has no sense to spend energies killing people that are going to die by themselves. They knew that, and they only could spend the days remembering how the Earth was when they were younger or waiting for a new hero like Hiro Nakamura. But for a real one, because Hiro was only an actor from a TV show.
They didn’t know, but in the dark side of the Moon, a new hope for humans was raising. They, the rebels were going to kill every invader, and they were going to recover the Earth for the humans. The only question is if the Earth was going to become again in a garbage dump.
That is an answer that we cannot give yet, but if we have learned something about our past, we must be able to do things better, but only tomorrow we will know what will happen tomorrow…
